I've been sitting on this announcement for a week and a half, waiting to make sure everything was a go first. And the dates aren't still 100% set, but things are coming into focus. Looks like it's really going to happen.
... *drumroll* ...
...I'm going back to Chile!!!!!
For work. For about six months.
For those of you who are newcomers to my life story, Chile is my second country. I did my study abroad there in 2008 for 4 months and made friends and traveled and improved my Spanish (though not as much as I wanted). Now a unique opportunity has come up for work, and I am the perfect candidate in about 173 different ways.
I am so excited about this. I'm feeling really confident about the work itself. I get to see my friends and familia again. I'm finally going to get my Spanish up to the level I've always wanted it to be. And it's just the right amount of time to accomplish all of this but not feel too deprived of home and hearth. I anticipate being back home again just after my birthday (right before Dragon Con). I'm going to miss my family (and my kitties!) like crazy, but I'll be working so hard that it's going to fly by.
The next two months are going to be INSANE crazy. I need to get a work visa, which is an undertaking. Looks like I'll be going down for the heart of February to learn the job, then come back home to get the visa stuff finalized and take my trip out to L.A. for Veronica Mars. Then, the last week of March, go back down for the official start of the assignment.
Yeah. Big time adventure. That came at my blind spot like a linebacker. Lots of plans to be rearranged.
Two more bright sides, though? It's summer there. And I'll be able to get really cheap avocados!
