So like a lot of people, I'd like to trim up and be healthier, blah, blah, blah.
I want to hit 160 lbs. Because I think I can and I believe that's a weight I'll be really happy about. The reason I haven't been able to reach it is just indulging in too much food. I'm at the Catch-22 place right now where I'm happy enough with my appearance that I shrug off my goals some days and kick myself on others.
Home stretch this year, baby. Home stretch. Those last 25-30 lbs are the hardest, right?
I do have one really fantastic motivator for the short term. In approximately eight weeks, I am going to the L.A. red carpet premiere of the Veronica Mars movie! A friend and I decided to pitch in for that prize level in last year's Kickstarter campaign. I have a dress, and it already looks great, but I just want to feel as fabulous as possible, you know?
So for the next two months, starting today, I am on a strict eating and exercise regimen. Not something I can keep up forever, but with such a fun carrot dangling in front of me, I think I can keep it up in the short term. Afterward I'll pare it down to something a little more everyday life sustainable.
This morning's weigh-in was 191 lbs. If I stick to my guns, I'll reach 175 by the time of the movie premiere and the halfway point to my overall goal. The building blocks of my plan are the same as they were last year. They work for me. I just need to stick to them:
- Exercise six days a week - yoga, weights, and half an hour of cardio
- Meal plan - Portion controlled lean proteins and whole grains, proactive consumption of vegetables.
- No pop (including diet) and more water. I had a ceremonial "Last Diet Dr Pepper" yesterday and relished every sip.
