(1) Writing - Really, the goal hasn't changed, just the timetable. By the end of the year I want viable drafts of both The Superhero Thing and Oathborn.
My deadline for a second draft of the Superhero Thing was originally by the end of March. I've pushed it back to the end of May. I have a tentative hope that when I get back to Chile in three weeks my apartment situation will be taken care of. I've heard it can sometimes be a bit of a headache getting all the ducks in a row, but as it so happens, there's a different ex-pat girl living there, one of the engineers, who is returning to the States the same week I'm arriving, so we're hoping I can smoothly just take over both the apartment and the car she's been using. Whatever the case, as soon as I have a real "home" I'm aiming for ten to fifteen thousand words a week and crank this baby out. Then Agent Java can help me in additional shaping, because the world needs this book! (Chile included).
Then probably a short break and start untangling Oathborn. I'd like to have the bulk of that done by the time I get home, as well.
(2) Get down to 160 lbs. Heh. Weeell… I did extremely well on my hard core exercise regimen for the first three weeks, but after the Chile announcement, it was the first thing to fall apart. There wasn't any reason for it, but there was so much to take care of it was an easy thing to disregard.
I do really enjoy weight training. I enjoy how it makes me feel better in the body I already have. Hopefully I can find a way to keep it up. I won't have the convenience of the free work gym in Chile, but like I said in last week's post, there's a big city to walk around, and bike rentals aplenty. I may price out a few area gyms too-- I do like the weight training, or perhaps I'll just see if I can stick to keeping up on my own with a few light free weights and a resistance band. Stranger things have happened. Once I've settled in for a couple of weeks, I'll come up with something.
As far as eating, I'm going to have to be careful not to let my habits of stress-eating and emotional-eating get too out of control.
In any event, I'm moderating my target weight goal to 170 lbs.
(3) Sewing/Costuming. This is the area where I'm going to have to make the biggest sacrifices, obviously. We'll see how I can do about getting the Rapunzel Bodice 2.0 done in time for Dragon Con. Everything but the sleeves is done already, but I definitely won't be able to do Sif this year. And probably not anything else, on the list, either.
It's okay, though, because you know what goal I didn't make that I've always had in the back of my head to do something about?
Improve my Spanish.
Yup… I think that's gonna happen! :-)
